Late last year, Ifako/Ijaiye Local Government started the process of reconstruction of streets within Iju axis and the popular James Street was one of the streets penciled down for a facelift. The rehabilitation was supposed to be done and dusted within 10 months
As expected, work started as promised, first with the building of the drainages to checkmate the annual flooding in the

Current state of James Street
street that always makes it messy whenever it rains. That done and dusted, work stopped as the contractor left the site with no reason adduced to the residents.
Same thing is happening to the Iju Market. In August this year, demolition men came to the market with their bulldozers to pull the market down for reconstruction. However, two months after, the reconstruction work on the market has not started, thus forcing the traders to move their stalls to the Iju/Agbado Road making vehicular movement hellish on the area.
All messages to hear from the LG through the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Mr. Lateef Salaam, as to why work has stopped on the two projects remained on replied to as at the time of going to the press.
