Catholic LAITY , social forum mobiliser support , prayers for UZODIMMA ‘s re-electi

ONWUASOANYA FCC JONESThe Owerri Province of the Catholic Laity Council and Catholic Social Forum (CSF) have been mobilising extensively for the re-election of the governor of Imo State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma through different Catholic fora across the dioceses of the Catholic province, especially, those in Imo State.

The President of the Owerri Province of the Catholic Laity Council, Honourable Placidus Chijioke Onyedikachi, who was the Labour Party House of Assembly candidate for Ahiazu Mbaise constituency insists that the re-election of the governor would be in the best interest of Imo State and affirmed the commitment of Imo Catholics to vote en masse for the governor on the 11th November.

“The governor’s re-election is the collective project of all Imolites, because it is obvious that among all those who have presented themselves for the governorship election this time around, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma is the most competent, most prepared and the candidate with the political will to continue on his trajectory of good governance and political and social reforms that would benefit Imolites at the end of the day.”

Explaining his decision to quit the Labour Party and team up with the APC, the Ahiazu Mbaise born politician and businessman hinged his decision on “advancing the interest of Imolites against personal political interests and and ambitions “.

“It is obvious to anyone who cares for the truth that Governor Uzodimma has no match, as long as this election is concerned. Anyone who cherishes the peace, stability, prosperity and equity in the State would without fail, align with the good visions of Governor Uzodimma and campaign vigorously, like we are doing, for his re-election. Labour Party and the Obidient Movement is inspired by the overriding aspiration of patriotic Nigerians for good governance, and in Imo State, there is no candidate that is more Obidient than Governor Hope Uzodimma. That is why we are doing what we are doing, and we are not relenting.”

The Coordinator of the Catholic Social Forum, Hon. Ambrose Obioha in speaking on the collaboration between his group and the laity council argued that Catholics in Imo are citizens, and therefore interested in the governance of their State. According to him;

“Catholics, like every other citizen are affected by the political leadership of the societies they belong to, hence, must actively participate in choosing their leaders. This is why we are collaborating to ensure that at this time, Catholics across Imo State, vote massively for Governor Hope Uzodimma, who in all honesty, has done well, and holds the best promise of meeting the yearnings of ordinary Imolites in the next four years.”

The Catholic Laity Council represents the generality of all practicing Catholics and could rightly be adjudged as the most grassrooted religious structure, as long as the Catholic Church is concerned.
