Sir Shina Peters, Ras Kimono and Femi Anikulapo-Kuti, I want to believe will not forget the concert; and if they do, not in a hurry.

Aside the fact that the concert touched almost all musicians in Nigeria, the trio had the highest slot the first time it came to Nigeria with SSP topping the list with his ACE album and Femi, the late Ras Kimono following closely while others like Bright Chimezie got two, three and four slots.
The Quadrant Company, Biodun Shobanjo and co., PR agency, was behind the concert PR and the company was managed then by Phil Osagie and Ohi Alegbe; a good job they did with their crew. I will also not forget the yeoman job that my Adonte brother, Mike Nzeagwu, did then too. What of Tunde Kaitel, my former editor at the Daily Times Plc., before he joined Quadrant and later end up at Glo?
The first Golden Tones show was held at the then Allen Avenue based Water Parks. The headliner for that show was the late Lady of Songs, Christy Essien-Igbokwe that witnessed lots of crowd.

From Water Parks, the show travelled to Kano with Kimono as the biggest act for the night and my Arewa brothers, whose likeness for reggae music, can only be compared to that of Cross Riverans/Ibomites, were in cloud seven.
The show was so profitable to the likes of Femi, that it was it’s proceed that he used to buy his first blue coloured Peugeot 505 estate and his former Beatle car, which he inherited from his mother, was passed on to his elder sister, Yeni Kuti.
At the background running things for B&H in Nigeria were MC Skidd Ikemefunne, Junior and Pretty of Fufu Flavour fame, Syndey Oputa with Ikemefunne’s Gbagada home as their operational base.
