Transcorp empowers over 48 indigent host communities, youths in Delta



Mr. Peter Ikenga, Managing Director /Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Power Limited Ughelli has empowered over 48 persons from its host communities as part of its corporate responsible.

Mr. Ikenga speaking to journalists at the weekend in Ughelli after a programme of event for the 2023 Graduation / Induction ceremony of Transcorp Power Limited Annual vocational skills training and Entrepreneur Empowerment programme / annual undergraduate Bursary Award for host communities expressed joy that the beneficiaries are elated and motivated to add value to the society.

He further stated that the annually empowerment programme for the three host communities began six years ago and at the end of each six months training programme starter-park and seed capital is given to each trainee and disclosed that over 200 persons have benefited from it so far, he stated.
According to Ikenga, ” this year’s programme we have presented certificates /plague and seed capitals to 48 graduates from the three host communities, Three Undergraduates from our host communities were awarded bursary and now we have inducted 36 youths to be trained in areas of their choice which would last for six months “.


He thanked the three Royal fathers HRM, Dr. Wilson Ojakovo Oharisi III (jp) Ovie of Ughelli kingdom, HRM, Dr. Matthew Edirin Egbi (JP) Fod, Owawha II. Okabaro of Ughievwen Kingdom and HRM, Samson Owhe Ogugu 1,(jp)Osuivie of Agbarho Kingdom whose domains are parts of the host communities for gracing the occasion and the peaceful environment the corporation had enjoyed so far.


Also speaking at the ceremony, the Delta State Commissioner for Power and Energy Mr Jerry Ehiwario who Represented the State Governor Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori at the ceremony commended the efforts of Transcorp in touching the lives of the people of its host communities.

Oborevwori therefore charged multi-national operating in the State to take its social responsibility functions seriously which said would create jobs, curb youth restiviness and other social vises in their areas of operations.
