The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has refuted claims that it increased the 2024 Registration Fees. This was disclosed in the JAMB’s weekly bulletin, Volume 3, Number 61.
The bulletin partly reads: “The attention of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been drawn to several publications in recent times insinuating that the Board has increased its examination registration fee. This is far from the truth as the cost of obtaining the Board’s UT M E application documents remains N3,500, which has been the cost of its application documents since it was brought down from N5000 in 2018. “Therefore, the Board wishes to state that the cost of application documents price has not been increased in spite of the prevailing economic reality in the country which has also affected the cost of the Board’s operations.” Examination and Mock Fees were Increased. JAMB, however, clarified that while the registration fees weren’t increased, the examination and optional Mock Fees were increased.
According to JAMB, the examination fees will now be N1,500 while the optional Mock Fees will be N1,500 “It is, however, pertinent to state the fact that what is being perceived in some quarters as increment in its fees is nothing other than the fallout of its cashless policy through which all fees payable by candidates to CBT centres have been consolidated and are paid along with their application fees to prevent their wanton exploitation by unscrupulous centre owners. These fees are in turn remitted to partnering centres on a weekly basis. “For instance, candidates are expected to pay N700 for registration, N1500 as examination fees and N1500 for the optional Mock-UTME at privately – owned centers“ What this means to 2024 JAMB Candidates. This shouldn’t cause any confusion. The reports you heard that the JAMB Form is now higher are true. However, the exact money (N3,500) that JAMB will put in their account was not increased. Just to be clear, here is a breakdown of what JAMB candidates will pay: 2024 UTME/DE e-PIN remains N3500. The registration fee of N700, which is to be paid to CBT centres by candidates, is now to be collected by the Board N1500, the cost for sitting the main UTME, and N1500 the cost of the optional Mock-UTME is to be collected by the Board on behalf of the CBT centres. This money will be paid all together. They will NOT be paid differently. So if you will NOT be writing the mock exam, the JAMB form will cost you Five Thousand Seven Hundred Naira (N5,700). If you are going to write the JAMB mock exam, the JAMB form will cost you a total of Seven Thousand Two Hundred Naira (N7,200). Be informed that the JAMB mock is optional. if you don’t write it, it won’t affect your main JAMB Exam. Hope these are very clear. Don’t forget to check out these hand-picked JAMB Recommended Articles
