Chief Tony Okoroji, Chairman, Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), has charged the management and staff of COSON, Nigeria’s biggest copyright collective management organization, to make 2024 a remarkable year in which fantastic results are delivered to the members and affiliates of COSON.
Addressing the management and staff of the organization at the magnificent COSON House, in Ikeja, on January 10, 2024, Chief Okoroji said, “as you resume operations at the end of your annual vacation, I charge you all to dedicate your selves to making 2024 a year of great happiness for the members and affiliates of COSON everywhere. I am not unaware of how tough the Nigerian operating environment has become but tough people triumph even in tough environments and you have been trained to be tough and to overcome the serious challenges you may face”..

According to a release made available to charlesokogene.com by Mrs. Mandu Umoh, COSON’s Head, Corporate Affairs, Chief Okoroji thanked the staff for ending 2023 in a positive note despite the difficulties they had to confront. He insisted that 2024 must be better. Said Chief Okoroji, “I am aware that over 90% of the members have received the palliatives announced at the 2023 AGM, last November. There are, however, some members who due to wrong account documentation or dormant accounts are yet to pe paid. Every effort must be made without delay to resolve the issues and ensure that every COSON member receives his or her entitlement because at COSON, our word is our bond. Every promise we make must be fully kept.
“In the same vein, I request that every effort be made, to ensure that specific distribution cheques start going out soon”
According to Chief Okoroji, “if Nigeria has sadly become a desert of incompetence, ineffectiveness and intolerance, COSON must strive to remain an oasis of effectiveness, competence, transparency and accountability. COSON must continue to give people hope. People who come to COSON House to transact business must be received with warmth and treated with utmost respect and courtesy and there will continue to be zero tolerance for any type of fraud or shady dealings. I assure each and every one of you that if you do your work well, the COSON Board will reward you appropriately”.
Mr. Vincent Adawaisi, COSON Deputy General Manager, thanked the Chairman for finding the time to come, meet and interact with the staff and to raise the zeal of the staff with his address at the new year. He promised that 2024 will be a good year for COSON and its members.
