This picture was taken sometimes in 1986 when Tony Momoh was Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Sonny Okosuns was the President of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, PMAN.
It’s been 38 years. I was a young Entertainment Editor with the Punch. On your left is me, interviewing Tony Momoh. On your right is my brother and colleague, the unforgettable and iconic Pilot/Dj/Journalist, Jerry Eyituoyo Agbeyegbe also recording the interview. Behind Mr. Momoh is Sonny Okosuns.
I am the only one alive in this picture. Sonny Okosuns died in 2008. Tony Momoh died Thisday in 2021. Jerry Agbeyegbe was murdered on October 12th 2004. This picture of four men brought together by their unique professions, to one place, during a rare era, unknown how each would eternally depart and which one would be the first to become immortal and when. I live to mourn them and celebrate their privileged memories with me. May they continue to live in peace.
