in the 1960/70s Charles Iwugbue and his Hinos Band, were the leading highlife musicians of Ukwuani extraction from Delta North. He was very popular with his ‘Nwata Ngboto …’ song in the late 1980s to 90s before his bands boys we said to have revolted against him and killed him.
That in a nutshell is the story of Iwugbue.
Next is the era of Ubulu Int’l, Agu Risky, Roganna Otta, Harmony King, Queen Azaka among others. They brought happiness and entertainment to the art of area of Delta State known as Delta North (Anioma). Their music were so good and meaningful that people now branded Ukwuani as the Jamaica of Nigeria because of the way the area was churning out musicians. And it has remained like that till date.
