Warri ‘go’ work again – DESOPADEC MD

The Managing Director/CEO of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Chief Festus Ochonogor, says that the commission is poised to make Warri work again.

Chief Ochonogor made the remarks on Tuesday when he received the management and crew of Waffi Tv, Warri, at the Commission’s head office in Effurun, Delta State.

He commended the crew on their creativity in setting up Waffi TV as well as in engaging the younger generation to run the station.

Chief Ochonogor urged the youths, particularly those driving the station, to live up to expectations while showcasing their creativity and service through a positive image, content of their programmes, and the use of modern technology to add value to their work.

He also urged them to package their product properly while copying good innovations from others, stressing that being in a competitive business environment required innovations that would encourage people to come to them.

Speaking further, he said he expects the Waffi Tv crew to show to the world that even in Warri, they could connect to other parts of the world by letting people know that Delta can strive.

Ochonogor said that DESOPADEC would assist in terms of infrastructure, capacity building and human capital development saying, “the objective of the Commission is to add value to the lives of the people living in the mandate areas, which DESOPADEC cannot do alone, hence the need for partners to champion the cause. Waffi TV can be a partner that can help disseminate appropriate developmental messages to the people.”

Earlier, the Manager and founder of Waffi TV, Pastor Arex Akemotubo, said the TV station had been in existence for the past six years and it was during the COVID-19 pandemic era that they went on satellite, emphasizing that the TV station could be watched in any “free-to-air” decoder.

Pastor Akemotubo said their visit was to thank the Commission for participating in an entrepreneurship venture embarked upon by the tv station, and making a timely financial donation.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of a picture frame to the DESOPADEC MD by the Waffi TV
