Interviewing Youssof N’Dour at the foyer of Intercontinental Hotel Abidjan, Cote D’Ivorie in 1999, just three days before the coup that precipitated civil war in Houphouet-Boigny Félix’s country. It was the morning after a scintillating concert that was headlined by Femi Kuti and N’Dour. It was a concert tagged Rothmas Jazz Festival; Femi Kuti took me there and made sure I interviewed N’Dour, then I was the showbiz editor of Global Excellence Magazine.
You see why I must continual be grateful to God and the reigning afrobeat king.
