Championing excellence: Nasarawa Utd chairman applauds NPFL elevated standards

A Coach, Uni Dan Kakwi, has penned a rare tribute for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) arising from his interactions with Solomon Babanja, the Chairman of Nasarawa United.

In his opening lines, he introduced Babanja as one of the longest serving sports administrators at club level and went on to capture his subject’s take on the NPFL.

“In a time of transformation within the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), the longest-serving administrator in the league’s history, Solomon Babanja, has stepped forward to commend the high standards now defining Nigerian football”, Kakwi wrote and continued.

“Known for his depth of experience and dedication to the sport, Babanja has given well-deserved praise to the NPFL’s management under the leadership of Gbenga Elebeleye, highlighting the leaps the league has taken in professionalism, organization, and global appeal.

“Babanja’s recent comments reflect his belief in Elebeleye’s vision to elevate the NPFL. He sees the management’s approach as a turning point, moving the league toward a more disciplined, competitive, and respected status that will appeal both locally and internationally”.

Babanja was further quoted to have said, “the NPFL has reached a point where the league’s quality and governance reflect a modern, forward-thinking operation.

“This progress is just the beginning. Stakeholders, former international players, and Nigerian players  abroad should embrace their roles as ambassadors for the NPFL. These individuals hold a crucial position in amplifying the league’s reputation. By sharing their experiences, leveraging their networks, and supporting the league’s mission, they can contribute to its growth and help solidify its position on the global football stage”.

To Babanja, upholding the NPFL’s standards and projecting the league to the world should be a collective endeavor.

“For Nigerian football to thrive, this responsibility must go beyond administration and management—it requires commitment from everyone connected to the game, from the fans to the players and all supporters.

“Projecting the NPFL to the world should be a shared responsibility. All who care about Nigerian football must work together toward common goals. The NPFL is not only a league but a powerful emblem of Nigerian talent and potential, deserving recognition and respect worldwide”
