Ms. Mo Abudu, the owner of Nigeria’s Ebony Media conglomerate, has listed what movie makers and aspiring ones must do for their movies to break international boundaries
As the key note speaker at the just concluded 4th Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Nigeria Digital Content Regulation Conference organised by the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board, NFVCB, she itemised them to include, :knowing that there is a difference between making film for a local audience and international ones.’
In her speech titled ‘From Local to Global’ that was delivered to a packed audience made of time tested movie producers to wannabe ones, Abudu also identified collaboration with others as ‘very important in creating movies that will have global acceptability. And that that was what was done in a film call Wedding Party.’
She was not done yet as she insisted that a movie producer must understand that there is a universal theme for story telling such as love, patience and resilience.
The media mongul who established established EbonyLife Films in 2014.and whose first film as an executive producer was Fifty did not fail to tell the producers that a good budget for marketing their films are as important as having a good and original story to tell.
Hear her ” Sufficient money must be allocated for marketing of the movies. Money must not only be allocated for production of movies alone but for marketing of the movies after the production.”
She ended her speech by emphasising on ‘collaboration! collaboration! collaboration!’ and got a standing ovation
