Stop inciting violence in Epe, Council Boss, warns bloggers

Princess Surah Animashaun, Chairman Epe local government council area of Lagos State, has warned social media bloggers, Yusuf Apena which nicknamed ‘Vibrant Nifemi Vibrant’ to desist from statements that are capable of rupturing the peace that has existed in Epe local government council of Lagos state.

In a statement personally signed and made available to journalists in Epe, Animashaun also called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to invite Yomi Agbaje, one the bloggers, for questioning, over his frivolous allegations leveled against her and the present administration.

Animashaun, who said the statement made by Yusuf Apena and his allies were capable of unsettling the peace in the council area, described it as “threatening and reckless,” noting that those involved in writing malicious statement against her administration should be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

She said, “Epe people are known for their peaceful disposition and will not succumb to intimidation from unscrupulous elements and faceless persons that has consistently failed to prove their allegations beyond a reasonable doubt.

“The intimidating posture of their statements on social media and blogs are clear indications their incompetence, unreasonable, unreliable and lackluster performance which remain evident to all.

“Indeed, as a quintessential social media users or bloggers, your criticism must be a constructive ones, not destructive arguments it turned out on your platforms and social media platforms, when you continue like this, nobody will even follow your page, as you have being tagged as an intruders and deceivers.

“The primary duty of any responsible social media users or bloggers are to write positively and meaningfully about the government and its responsibilities, not instill fear or subject them to intimidation. Epe people will have their say in the coming council elections and make it abundantly clear that they can distinguish between sincerity and deception,” Animashaun said 

She warned that no bloggers holds a monopoly on inciting the people and posited that Epe’s citizens would not tolerate any acts of intimidation against the council leadership.

Animashaun added that those bloggers, including Yomi Agbaje were being acted upon by their paying masters, noting that no amount of blackmailing, intimidation and inciting would deter her from delivering on campaign promises.
