In the latest NPFL showdown, Remo Stars, known as the “Ikenne Landlord” or the Skyblue Stars, left no doubt about their championship aspirations. Despite near-misses in previous seasons, their relentless pursuit of glory shone through with a display of unmatched quality, quantity, and sheer determination.

Their clash with the Aba giants showcased their tenacity, gripping onto victory like a dog with a bone. Samson Olasupo, a standout acquisition in the recent transfer window, reinforced his worth with another crucial goal, following Olamilekan Adebayo’s opener in the 28th minute. This victory widened the gap at the top to eight points over Rivers, with a game in hand.

Elsewhere, 3SC faced setbacks in Maiduguri, squandering an early lead secured by Gideon Monday and Sodiq Ibrahim’s quick-fire goals on 35 and 44 minutes Yet, reminiscent of their warrior spirit, Elkanemi Warriors fought back valiantly, levelling the score with strikes from Barnabas and Suleiman Alabi in the 50th and 78th minutes.

In Enugu, the Cathedral fell silent as Mbwas Mangut led a relentless onslaught, leaving the Flying Antelopes bereft of chances. Goalkeeper Amah John emerged as the star of the show with a dazzling display that denied Rangers any breakthrough despite their relentless efforts.

Meanwhile, Akwa United’s resurgence under Kennedy Boboye continues to gain momentum. Initially met with scepticism, Boboye, a seasoned tactician with a history of battling relegation, has steered Akwa United clear of danger with successive victories. Wins in Ilorin and at home against Tornadoes have injected a glimmer of hope into their fight against relegation, marking a significant turn in their season.
