The Asaba-Onitsha Expressway Among Others: A Glaring Symbol of Governance Failure
The deplorable condition of the failed portion of the Asaba-Onitsha Expressway is not just an infrastructural defect; it is a tragic symbol of the systemic failure of governance across the three tiers of government in Nigeria. That such a strategic and heavily trafficked route could be allowed to deteriorate to this level is both unacceptable, dangerous and scandalous .
In a nation where leadership is responsive and the lives of citizens are valued, immediate remedial action would have been undertaken long before now, pending a more lasting solution.
Sadly, what we are witnessing is a damning indictment of the culture of neglect, insensitivity, and inertia that characterises much of our public administration.
It is high time those who seek to lead us demonstrate genuine commitment to service and the well-being of the people.
Leadership is not about occupying political office; it is about responsibility, empathy, and action.
Enough of the excuses. Enough of the shenanigans. Let those in power rise to the occasion for once, let them lead well.
