Like the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, the minister of state for petroleum (oil), is currently oiling his gun in readiness to declare his ambition to contest the governor of his home State, Bayelsa, in 2027 on the platform of the ruling party at the national level, All Progressives Congress (APC).
But unlike Adelabu who has made his ambition a public knowledge, Lokpobiri, is still keeping his under the wraps.
According to a competent source close to him, he is right now gathering foot soldiers and media influencers that will launch his ambition to the world when the time comes. The social media influencers the source said, spreads across Bayelsa, Delta states and Abuja and are ready and waiting for him to give them the green light to unleash their media attack on whoever dares to contest the APC ticket with him.
“He has assembled the social media ‘tigers’ that will do the work and they are rearing to go. They are just waiting for orders from him for them to begin their attacks and propaganda work for him,” our source who is based in Yenogoa said.
And if he eventually throws in his hat into the 2027 governorship race ring for Bayelsa State, that will make it the second time the minister who is on his second time as minister of state will be contesting to become the governor the small but oil rich State. The first was in 2019.
