‘DOLAPO Douglas’ was produced by popular Yoruba actor, Lateef Adedimeji and his equally actor wife, Mobimpe Adedimeji.
The moviie featured the couple alongside top Yoruba movie stars such as Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Itele (Director), Kolawole Ajeyemi, Jide Kosoko, Aisha Lawal, Anita Joseph among others.
The movie poster is a testament to how low the work is and one is surprised that the Adedimejis could produce such a work of art.
Dolapo Douglas is a weak imitation of the highly acclaimed TV series Money Heist, but in this case, it was badly done .just like professor in money heist he is also a skilled criminal who can penetrate any facility and execute any task, no matter how challenging it is, We got to see Professor prowess but in Dolapo Douglas we were told instead or showing us, the next scene shows father hailing him after their first robbery incident.
The film glorifies crime and showcases the affairs of men of the underworld. The movie is full of flaws. There was no background story as to how the group was formed or what they spent their money on or how they even pick out target.
The costume in the movie didn’t leave any lasting impression. In what world do armed robbers wear uniforms for operations? Only in the world of the Spanish hit series Money Heist, which pretty much explains why the uniform worn by the robbers in Dolapo Douglas has similarities with those worn in Money Heist. Also, the mask worn by the robbers was copied from the Hollywood movie Scream. One wonders why the costume directors made Lateef Adedimeji wear long hair. Was that to make him look tough?
Another drawback of the movie is the recycled Yoruba movie faces. Once one sees Odunlade Adekola in a movie, you can predict the names of the other casts even before their faces appear on screen. Is it that new actors are not being discovered in the industry or what? Well, viewers may be getting sick of seeing same faces in almost every movie in the last 10 years.
Unlike known armed robbery films, in which robbers eventually meet their doom, Dolapo Douglas ends without Father, Jagua, and their boys being apprehended by the police. What message is the Adedimeji sending out to young people of this generation? That crime is rewarding or what?
