What’s Obi doing in Madrid?

As far as I am concerned, the speech the man delivered during the collection of his Certificate of Return was his true inaugural address. Does he need any other one? It was a clear statement of policy towards Obi – demonising him by every means possible. But repeating the same act that has always ended up diminishing one’s own image calls for sober evaluation.

What is utterly perplexing is that some of his aides have confessed that they write and post under pressure from the master himself. In some cases, he even writes the trash himself and instructs them to publish it. They were honest enough to reveal that it was part of the understanding with Abuja – the decapitation of Obi before 2027! Do you think my good friend who I learnt just posted something now would have ordinarily posted such?

Yet, while some remain preoccupied with distractions at home, pursuing a man who has not raised a finger against them, Obi is in Spain – inhaling the cold and exhaling wisdom – thus compounding their aggression. But you cannot stop a moving train. From Madrid, his words continue to reflect clarity of purpose, depth of thought, and a firm commitment to Nigeria’s rebirth. He is truly a world-class player.

His engagements in Madrid are all aimed at strengthening partnerships and exploring new opportunities for future generations. He is also participating in the Reimagining Nigeria Symposium 2025, themed “A Journey to Development.”

At the symposium, Obi highlights Nigeria’s vast but underutilised potential in agriculture, stressing that with abundant arable land and a vibrant young population, Nigeria has no reason to remain among the world’s hungriest and poorest nations. He calls for a renewed emphasis on integrity – rejecting shortcuts, discouraging questionable wealth, and upholding transparency, hard work, and honest enterprise.

He further reminds his audience that rebuilding Nigeria is a collective responsibility, urging citizens to use their voices, platforms, and actions to demand accountability and good governance. This, generously, can be extended to the “Tiger” at home: you do not need to use your brother to prove your “tigeritude.” Do not abuse any platform entrusted to you by weaponising it against those you ought to respect.

Obi maintains that Nigeria’s progress will be driven not only by sound policies but by shared values and a collective determination to do things the right way.
