In a landmark development aimed at improving access to essential government services, the ๐๐ ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ณ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ผ-๐๐ท๐ฎ๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐, ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐จ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ธ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฏ๐ถ ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐๐ฎ๐ (๐จ๐๐), has successfully facilitated the establishment of a ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐ถ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป (๐ก๐๐ ๐) ๐๐ป๐ฟ๐ผ๐น๐น๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฟ๐ฒ within the local government area.
This achievement followed the Chairmanโs recent high-level engagement with the Lagos State office of the NIMC in Alausa, Ikeja, after a technical meeting held on Wednesday, 7th January, 2025.
The initiative aligns squarely with Prince Hamzatโs ๐.๐.๐.๐ฟ.๐ ๐ผ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ ๐๐ค๐ง ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ง ๐๐๐๐ ๐ค-๐๐๐๐๐ฎ๐, and with a strong focus on connecting residents to critical state and national services while enhancing service delivery at the grassroots.
For years, residents of Ifako-Ijaiye endured considerable hardship, travelling long distances to other Local Government Areas and more frequently to the heavily congested NIMC Centre in Alausa, Ikeja to enroll, correct, or update their National Identification Number (NIN), including the resolution of suspended records.
In response to these persistent challenges and mounting public concerns, Prince Hamzat took decisive steps to bring NIN services closer to the people. ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ป๐ฒ๐ ๐ก๐๐ ๐ ๐๐ป๐ฟ๐ผ๐น๐น๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ณ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ผ-๐๐ท๐ฎ๐ถ๐๐ฒ, when fully established, is expected to significantly reduce travel stress for residents, ease congestion at the Alausa centre, and improve efficiency in NIN registration and data management.
Commending the initiative, the leadership of the NIMC expressed strong support for the Chairmanโs proactive intervention.
Mr. Gbolahan Tobiloba, State Coordinator of NIMC (Lagos-West), alongside Mr. Lasisi Mikhail Oladele, Regional Coordinator, lauded Prince Hamzatโs commitment and leadership, noting that the centre will be fully integrated into the state network to effectively serve the Local Government.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye LGA, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat assured NIMC officials of readiness of the Local Government to immediately provide a conducive accommodation, as well as the necessary facilities and tools, to ensure the swift establishment and seamless operation of the centre.
This collaborative milestone between Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) represents a major boost for residents, reinforcing the administrationโs commitment to people-centred governance and improved access to vital national identity services.
