If what I am hearing is true, there are strong indications that that beach concert that made headlines in the 1990s is set to make a comeback after years of hiatus.
Pioneered by the indefatigable Dapo Adelegan with Kunle Onime as the poster boy, Lekki Sunsplash modeled after the world famous Reggae Sunsplash Kingston Jamaica, was the concert of the 1990s that every Nigerian acts wanted to perform on its stage. Lekki Sunsplash together with a few corporate bodies and church pioneered the drift into the beach aspect of what is today Lekki Peninsula.
But it went extinct in the 2000s when the Lagos State government began to play politics with the ownership of the beach, well, that is a story for another day
The latest story according to our source is that the organisers of the concert are planning an encore that is likely to hold by December this year.
What we, however, do not know which part of Lagos the musical concert will hold as the Lekki Beach where it used to hold in the 1990s has transformed from what it used to be then.
