Ikeja Electric
For five, (5). days today, Saturday 6th December, 2025, , the entire Axis of Oke Orube /Abaranje, and all adjoining streets, where hundreds of thousands of Nigerians reside have been gnashing their teeths as the horrible blackout that they have been plunged into by the very callous authorities of Ikeja Electric.
According to a NOTICE on Mulmaco Estate Residents’ WhatsApp Group, copied and pasted below, ;
”Dear Esteemed Customers,
Please be informed that we will be carrying out an upgrade on our Ijegun Injection Substation from the 1st of December to the 14th of December 2025. During this period, you may experience service interruptions. This upgrade is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery and ensure a more reliable power supply within your community.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your usual understanding and cooperation.”
According to the Notice, the lingering total blackout would last till the 14th of December.
The. saddest part of it all is that Ikeja faiked woefully provide any temporary measure to lessen the monumental crisis that s 14-day long total blackout would plunge several hundreds of thousands of residents of the affected areas, which is a large part of Ogando-Ikotun LCDA.
As I write this post, five full days after, affected residents are finding it very hard to source for their portable water, since there is no electricity to pump water from their boreholes.
Apart from this,Al the foods that they have refrigerated have all gone bad, and are being thrown to tubs diss.
Under normal circumstances, a highly responsive corporate organization would have considered before slamming a 14-day total blackout of residents of the affected areas is the age -long saying that
“”The evil that men do, live after them “
The abysmal chaos that the electricity sector has been striving to resolve by the President Bola Àhmed Tinubu’s government is the monumental chaos that was passed on from the former President Olusegun Obasanjo to forms President Goodluck Ebel Jonathan governments.
Sadly, it is innocent Nigerians, who are compelled to suffer the past acts of misgovernance today.
