If you pay as much as a passive attention to most of the adherents of these exploitative miracle and prosperity preaching fraudsters claiming to be Men of God, you would discover certain demographics as forming the major bulk of their congregations; yahoo boys and girls, extortionist businessmen and women, runs girls, criminals, irresponsible wives and husbands, wicked family members, etc.
While there are people whose attraction to these new generation extortionists might be as a result of their genuine search for God, you will hardly find those who genuinely seek salvation among them. The key message of these Prosperity and miracle selling Pastors, Prophets and magicians is “Quick Fix” for all your problems. Those who know God, those who take their time to glance through the Bible and those who humbly open their hearts to God would understand that God does not promise quick fixes. From Noah, to Abraham, to Isaac, to Jacob, to Joseph, to Jesus Christ, obedience to God’s word has always been the central message of Christianity and all of God’s religions. Those who focus their message on instant healing, quick wealth, sending evil to their enemies, are certainly, not followers of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, but probably, advocates of Baal, Bar-Jesus and all the representatives of the Dark kingdom.
Many of those who patronise these miracle sellers are the same people who would have paid the most patronage to witchdoctors and sorcerers had they not somehow gone out of fashion. Many of the modern day miracle sellers and prosperity promisers are actually good business brains, who participated in demonizing the activities of sorcerers and witchdoctors, and then turned around to replace them with their own business model.
Look out for a wife who is a keen adherent of any of those fraudsters, she is hardly loyal to her husband or even care much about her children. She could spend One Million Naira in seeking for a miraculous healing of her marriage or betterment of her children, while there is no grain of food at home. Her Pastor or Prophet would tell her that she did not marry her rightful husband, hence, she needs to perform some prayer rituals before there could be peace in her marriage. But, the simple secret in restoring peace in her marriage might be for her to play her natural roles and as well support her husband freely and willingly. Any man living with such a woman deserves pity, because he is more like someone living with a witch in his house. Sometimes, you see some of such women praying for their husbands to fall to hard times, so that he can become humbled and loyal, and probably join them in visiting the so-called Man of God, who, in many cases might be sleeping with her.
Many men who also seek the assistance of these extortionists either for their business or marriage are usually very irresponsible men, running away from their responsibilities and refusing to put in the necessary work to improve their finances. Some of them are fed with the usual lie of their wives being disturbed by some spiritual husbands. These are all bullcrap. Spiritual husbands and wives only belong in fiction. Every man must do his best to make his marriage work, and when it isn’t, and you are satisfied in your conscience that you have done your best, you can walk away, because what we most times consider as spiritual disturbances or any of that are bad upbringing and indiscipline on the part of the woman or man.
Politicians are another set of people who patronise these miracle sellers and prosperity promisers the most. Like other adherents of this blossoming religious sect, the politician is there, not to seek the face of God, because everything they need to know about God is in the Bible and also spelt out clearly in their conscience, but they go to miracle workers in an attempt to manipulate God’s plan and words. It is simple for any genuine lover of God to know that the best act of loyalty you can show to God as a political leader is to conform to his principles, especially, in the way you treat the vulnerable in the soci
ety. You cannot steal monies belonging to the poor and fail to execute projects that would be beneficial to the people and turn around to use the same money to build a church for God. God does not need a church more than he needs that you treat those he left in your care with compassion.
Miracle sellers and prosperity preachers are a big cancer to Christianity and other organised religions where they have drawn a majority of sheep away from the way of God, but they wouldn’t be thriving in their businesses, if we did not have people, who are so conceited and desperate that they would rather seek for the immediate downfall of their assumed enemies instead of seeking their repentance and looking for quick money and prosperity, instead of following the processes to succeed in their ventures. So, while you are careful with those scamming people out of their money and destroying homes and communities with false prophecies and make-believe miracles, also be very careful with those who follow them.
