Popular stand up act, Koffi Idowu-Nuel ,has said that one of the best way to fight hard drugs use by Nigerian youths/entertainers is for the government at all levels to strictly enforce the ‘not to be broadcast (NTBB)’ code by electronic media on any song promoting hard drug.
Not only that, Koffi who is also a board member of Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) went further to recommend that any musician that releases a song promoting hard drug should be prosecuted with his producer, record label and marketer and if they are found guilty, they should be made to face the music..
He said this at the one day conference of the Felix Duke led Creative Industry Group (CIG) held at O’Jez National Stadium Surulere on Wednesday.
He said that is one of the ways to begin to fight the parvelence of drug use by youths who swallow hook, line and sinker all that entertainers whom they see as idols says.
Hear him: ” These young people you see her listen more to musicians/celebrities than they do to our leaders/elders and until we begin to deal with promoters of hard drug via their songs, we are only scratching the surface in the fight against hard drugs, ” he said.
The conference which attracted lots of school children was attended by the representative of the first Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Omowumi Bakare and the representative of National Drug Law Agency chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd) Rita Okpere, DIrector, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, popular reggae act, Orits Williki and scores of entertainers.
The conference started with a walk against hard last Thursday .
