Seek out of court settlement, Court tells parties in CCC case

The Appeal Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, in the appeal filed by Reverend E.M.F. Oshoffa, against the judgment of the Ogun State High Court, Ilaro, did not mince words in advising parties in the matter before the Appeal Court, to seek out of court resolution of all extraneous issues related to the matter.

The Presiding Judge made it clear, in very strong terms, that the court would only adjudicate on the legalities of the matter before it and not on extraneous issues like the dissolution of the Board of Trustees and the brick bats occasioned by the sudden application for a change of counsel by some members of the dissolved Board of Trustees.

The beginning of the day’s proceedings saw two members of the dissolved Board of Trustees, Most Superior Evangelist S.O. Banjo and Superior Evangelist Bola Akinterinwa, announcing their presence in court.

Counsel to Reverend E.M.F. Oshoffa, Obafemi Adewale (SAN), immediately reacted to this by making it known to the court that they could no longer claim to be members of the Board of Trustees since the B.O.T. to which they belonged had been dissolved since May 2021.

Obafemi Adewale (SAN), also made it clear to the Appeal Court that messrs S.O. Banjo and Bola Akinterinwa, were presently challenging their removal from the Board of Trustees at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, and so could not parade themselves as Board of Trustee members, whilst their case is still pending.

The Appeal Court also advised that parties in the matter must resolve all issues relating to counsel representation outside the court.

The matter was adjourned to Thursday, 10th October, 2024.
