“My people.
Yes. We are hungry.
We have come out, as a people United by HUNGER, to cry out, regardless of our tribe and our religion.
We have spoken for all who have ears to hear. Let’s continue to be PEACEFUL, in the PEACEFUL PROTEST that started
Yesterday, August 1, 2024.
You have CRIED OUT, to make your voices heard across the nation, demanding for a better Nigeria.
I’m so proud of every single one of you who came out to exercise your right to protest peacefully.
And to the NIGERIAN POLICE FORCE, I thank you for largely respecting our rights and keeping the peace. Your professionalism and restraint are appreciated.
Together, we can build a Nigeria that works for ALL of us. Let’s keep pushing for change, and let’s continue to do it peacefully.
Yesterday’s nationwide protest in Nigeria saw thousands of citizens come together to demand change and better governance. While the overall message of the protest was one of peace and unity, there were unfortunate incidents of violence and clashes in some areas.
Despite these setbacks, it is essential to acknowledge the majority of protesters who remained peaceful and committed to non-violent expression. Their dedication to the cause is a testament to the power of peaceful protest and the desire for positive change in Nigeria.
As we move forward, it is crucial to continue upholding peace and non-violence as the guiding principles of our protest.
We must not let isolated incidents of violence derail our collective efforts or undermine the legitimacy of our demands.
- Let our Demands be short, precise and uniform across the nation
- Focus on our shared goals and demands for better governance
- Exercise restraint and calm in the face of provocation
- Respect the rights and dignity of all individuals, including security personnel
- Support and uplift one another in our pursuit of a better Nigeria
- If you notice any group or persons acting and talking anyhow that is different from our agenda for this protest please my pikins avoid them, maybe dia mumu never Belleful dem.
By doing these, we can ensure that our message is heard loud and clear, and that we achieve our objectives without compromising our values or integrity.
In PEACE, we can defeat HUNGER together.
Together, we can ACHIEVE GOOD GOVERNMENT.
Together, we can END BAD GOVERNMENT and PEACEFULLY, too.
It shall be well with us.
Na the AreaFada Charlyboy Oputa dey yarn so.
Una well done.”
