Ondo: PDP’s vow to dislodge APC in Akoko Southwest laughable, Says Ajobiewe

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akoko Southwest Local Government area of Ondo State, Hon. David Ajobiewe, has scoffed at a claim by a former House of Assembly candidate in the area, Hon. Emmanuel Gbogi, who claimed he would dislodge the APC from the local council, following his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Wednesday.

Reacting to the comment while speaking with newsmen in Oka-Akoko, Ajobiewe, a Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, described the comment as a comic relief in the heat of ongoing political campaigns.

Ajobiewe said it must have been a joke or some patronising words to massage the ego of visiting governorship candidate of the PDP, Agboola Ajayi; noting that not only Akoko Southwest, but the entire Akoko people long endorsed Aiyedatiwa to continue as Governor.

“Hon. Gbogi Emmanuel’s recent defection to the PDP and his boast to dislodge the well-established APC in Oka-Akoko is nothing short of farce.

“The reality of the PDP event, which was padded by crowds from other local governments, was a shadow of the formidable gatherings APC regularly holds even at one of our Unit meetings in Akoko Southwest.

“This attempt to create a false sense of momentum by Gbogi and his ilk fell flat, as the turnout was embarrassingly scanty.

The APC in Akoko Southwest, Ajobiewe said, remains a force to be reckoned with, boasting the largest and most solid structure in Ondo North.

“Our party’s achievements and the strong support of the people speak louder than empty bragging. While Gbogi resorts to showmanship, the APC continues to deliver on governance, with numerous bigwigs and grassroots support propelling our vision for sustainable development in Akoko Southwest,” he stressed.

Ajobiewe advised “remnants of PDP members” in the area to focus less on theatrics and more on facts, explaining that all notable and reputable political leaders whom the locals cherish so much are all in the APC.

“The APC, especially going by the solid foundation of rapid development lain by Governor Aiyedatiwa, will not only remain dominant but will crush the PDP with wide margins in the upcoming gubernatorial elections,”

He added that claims by PDP lackeys of planning to deploy military strategy and undergo foreign tours would not translate to votes, especially when the APC’s unmatched track record of progress in the local government and the entire state stood as the true benchmark.

“It’s time for Gbogi to stop the empty noise and acknowledge that the APC, with its unmatched structure, performance, and loyal following, will decisively defeat the PDP come November 16,” Ajobiewe countered.
