Afrobeat King, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti, has suspended his every Thursday rehearsal, which is normally a free gate for authentic afrobeat music lovers.
Thursdays rehearsal started from the old Afrika Shrine owned by Fela Anikulapo-kuti in People Street, which is now Computer Village in Ikeja, in the 1990s.
it was rehearsal for the Sunday Jump and was free entry unlike the Sunday Jump and when the shrine changed ownership from Fela to Femi when the later died in 1997 and move to Agidingbi, the Thursday, Thursday rehearsal and Sunday Jump also moved. Became very massive in attendance as Afrobeat lovers, especially those that cannot pay gate fee on Sundays see it as a great opportunity to watch their favourite afrobeat act. But today, happenings in the Nigerian economy has forced the management of the Shrine to put it on hold until the economy begins to breathe again and hopefully soon.
