Governor Dapo Abiodun, the contractor awarded the reconstruction of the Olusegun Osoba Road, better known as Agbado-Crossing Road, has explanations to make. Ditto the officials, who passed it fit for purpose via a certificate of completion, which I think comes with a professional verdict that the job was satisfactorily done.

The only explanation for the current state of the road, completed a little over a year ago, is that it was built not to last longer than lettuce. Can we afford to continue building single-use or disposable roads? I’d need to be convinced that your government didn’t conceive this road to last as long as Styrofoam take-away packs. This will be by querrying the contractor and those who passed it fit for use.
This photos and videos were taken this morning on my way to the Agbado Train Station. Apart from the ones you see here, I counted 34 spots where the road has shown loss of integrity, an uncomplicated indication that the contractor and/or those who gave him a certificate of completion lack integrity. Sadly, this will be on you, Governor Abiodun, if nothing is done, because it is already ticked as an achievement on your scorecard.
It is not just about fixing those spots, it is about showing that your administration, already not in good odour with the people in that axis because of grim roads, ain’t going to take no shit. This is absolute shit. Bullshit. Cowdung. No other way to describe it. In three years, this road would be history. This can’t go on. Dropkick the contractor and his collaborators. Punch them where it would hurt, even if fatally. This can’t go on. It just can’t, lest you be viewed as failing in your duty of care.
