Impeachment notice: Shaibu debunks house speaker’s claim of evading service

Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, has refuted allegations by the Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, EDHA, Rt Hon Blessing Agbebaku, that he was evading service of impeachment notice by the legislature.

In a letter dated March 12 to the Honourable Speaker through his Personal Assistant, Charles Olubayo, the Deputy Governor insisted that he was never served any letter of impeachment notice and as such, the issue of evading service was an unfounded.

The letter titled; ‘Re: Service of Impeachment Notice’, clarified that the Deputy Governor has been away from Benin since March 3 when he traveled to Abuja.

The statement added that the allegation by the Speaker during plenary that he should be served the purported notice of Impeachment via publication in the Nigerian Observer and other newspapers was a misrepresentation and misinformation of facts.
